We presently have over 700 active groups! In most cases these international groups stemmed from an individual effort of a patient to seek out a method to enable them to live average lives. An average life to a Recovery, Inc. member is one free from the symptoms and tempers that stopped them from being full partners in their family, community and work environment. This is the same motive which has drawn many persons to join a Recovery, Inc. group in America.

In Canada, Puerto Rico, Ireland and England, first there was the discovery of Recovery, Inc. and then the extraordinary effort of contacting the organization, (often thousands of miles away), and perhaps traveling those miles as well to learn the basic method. With the use of the Internet, accessiblity will be much easier.

The Universality of the Recovery, Inc. Method

No matter which continent one chooses to attend a Recovery, Inc. meeting, the meetings demonstrate the same systematic techniques. These techniques help patients to prevent relapses and reduce chronic suffering from mental illness, nervous, and emotional difficulties. All meetings are structured the same way, so any member can attend a meeting anywhere in the world and feel at home. The use of Recovery's special terminology and meeting structure developed by Dr. Low, creates this consistency.

Ireland -

It took an initial effort on the part of a handful of persons from Ireland nearly two years of studying Recovery's principal text (Mental Health through Will Training) before they were ready to come to America for intensive training as group leaders. Today, there are 33 groups (and growing) in Ireland.

In some places, such as Israel, groups were started by a member who moved to this location (the same was true in Hawaii) where there was no existing group. Here one finds people who not only had their own long range goal of mental health in mind but also had the motivation to expand Recovery, Inc.
